Shadow that
Falls on Snow
Tribe of Floating Stones
long haired black and white she-cat
prey-hunter
she-cat
33 moons
Appearance
Shadow has the form that most think of when one imagines a prey hunter. On the smaller side this she-cat is often thought to be bigger than she actually us due to her longer fur, but should you take her coat away you would see a feline build with strong durable legs, a thin body for squeezing through tight spaces, and attentive ears and eyes ready to find her next bit of prey. If you also took away her fur you would see a long dark scar running from her left shoulder down across her chest and belly. Luckily for her this scar is covered by her elegant coat
Though majorly black, Shadow gets her full name for the large white patches of fur that cover her muzzle, stomach and paws. This fur is always a bright white compared to the midnight black that covers the rest of her body. Shadow makes sure to take extra care of her fur, almost to the point that some would call it vanity. She has her reasons but there is no mistaking that Shadow's fur will always look presentable should the tribe have unexpected guests.
While sitting among the mid-range group as far as age is concerned, due to her smaller size and young looking face, Shadow is often seen as a very young prey hunter, and sometimes even a to-be to those that don't live in the tribe. She is glad for her youthfulness and will often use it to her advantage against those who don't know her. To break up the black and white of her face, her eyes are a soft yellow that remind some of moonlight hidden among the dark night sky. Her nose is a black spot on her otherwise white muzzle that seemed to focus in on her younger features.

Personality
-Observant
Like most prey hunters Shadow is very keen on taking in her surroundings and noticing anything that is going on around her. This not only pertains to the land in which she hunts, but also the demeanor of her tribe mates and others that she might come in contact with. She may not act immediately on anything that she notices out of the ordinary, but you can bet if someone needs a second set of eyes to confirm something that happened, Shadow is the cat to go to.
- Kindhearted
Shadow is definitely one of those cats that would be very easy to open up to. She is always ready with a listening ear and soft words. She never wants to see her tribe mates in turmoil or pain and will go out of her way to reach a paw out to those in need. She definitely loves kits, but seems to avoid them unless asked to be a watcher while a mother takes a break. This sometimes confuses others and it is often said that Shadow would make a wonderful mother.
- Mischievous
Believe it or not, Shadow really enjoys pranks. With her smaller frame and silent paws it is not uncommon to see her trying to sneak up on unsuspecting tribe members or to-be to get a little bit of a startle out of them. She enjoys coming up with plans to help to-bes pick at each other and will gladly help in her own way to make the adventure extend. She is sneaky. So those in her tribe always have to be ready for her to strike out of no where.
- apprehensive
Despite her attentiveness and kind demeanor, Shadow is very jumpy. When out in the territory, the she-cat always seems on high alert like something is going to emerge from the shadows and attack her even though there are no threats about. This often causes her to lose focus on tasks at hand and not hear important information given to her by patrol leaders or those she is working with. She knows she tends to zone out and because of this prefers to work alone, which makes some believe she is too proud of her own skills.

History
Shadow that Falls on Snow was the only surviving kit of Fern by Still Waters and Sky of Starless Night. This was not all to surprising giving the complications that Fern had during her pregnancy, but Shadow was the runt of the litter. The chances of her living were slim, so Fern and Night were ecstatic when their little one made it through the dark cold leaf-bare that she had been born in. They took extra care to make sure she was protected and raised properly, but they didn't expect her to grow as bold as she did in her first few moons.
Shadow loved to talk. Not necessarily to anyone or about anything in particular, but just the idea of being able to express anything and everything that she saw and though. She questioned everything around her and expressed excitement when she would discover something new in her families den or just outside in the world beyond where her mother let her play. Her parents, and soon other cats found this very annoying. So much so that eventually, a has-been that wanted a break from Shadows endless chatter informed her that the Tribe of Endless Life only allowed cats so many words in their lifetime and that is she wasn't careful they would take away Shadow's voice completely. This did earn a few sharp words of irritation from Night to the older cat, but relief that Shadow seemed to pay more attention to when she could talk, and what about.
At the age of 6 moons, like every kit in the tribe, Shadow started her training as a to-be. Due to her smaller size she quickly caught the eyes of prey-hunters and the head prey-hunter themselves. Her new appreciation for using minimal amount of words seemed to also leak into her actions as she quickly trained herself by watching other older members to be light on her feet. She got so good that she started scaring many of the members who had no idea that she had even walked up to join their conversation until she spoke a greeting. Not only did Shadow become quiet but she also got fast. At least once a day older tribe members would gather to watch who Shadow would pick to race across or around the main encampment of the tribe. Granted she didn't always win but no one could deny the speed the young she-cat had.
This new found speed did become very helpful for her further along in her training. One morning wanting to get an early start despite a late night of ceremonies the night before, Shadow found herself trotting around a bit outside of her comfort zone trying to find some prey to bring back to her mother and father for breakfast when she stumbled upon a large tabby tom eating on an owl that he had seemed to hunt by himself. The stranger seemed to sense her presence and stared her down intensely with his golden gaze, inviting her to come join him for a bit. Disturbed by the fact that this strange cat and the fact he had managed to make it onto their island, Shadow refused and warned the stranger that he was trespassing on their lands. This only seemed to entice the tom and soon he was lunging after her, hungry jaws snapping at her viciously. Scared out of her pelt Shadow turned and ran. She didn't stop until she was back near the tribe stone breathing heavily and watching the entrance terrified that the large cat would come tearing in at any moment. Despite her fear, Shadow reported this encounter to no one.
At the age of 12 moons, Shadows was assigned to an old prey-hunter by the name of Stag on Silent Hills. The tom informed her on their first time out together that he had personally requested that he trained her because he saw a talent in her that he was afraid would go to waste should any other prey-hunter mentor her. Unlike most of the other to-bes Shadow's training happened late at night. During these late night sessions, Stag taught her how to use her senses of smell and hearing to hunt rather than her eyes in order to catch the more bountiful night life prey on the tribe island. He taught her how to protect herself against owls that would mistake her for food and even to listen for coyotes and foxes that also tended to hunt at night.
Her training with Stag did not last long however she learned so much from him that she still carries with her to this day. Soon after she was 16 moons, Shadow got to stand proud on top of the Tribe stone and watch over her tribe becoming a full member. During that night Stags came and sat with her and though while she had to be silent, he spoke and told her how proud he was of her and that she would make a wonderful addition to the tribe in his place as he could feel he would soon be joining the Tribe of Endless life. Only a couple weeks later, Shadow sat curled beside her old mentor as he suddenly grew weaker from some unseen sickness (cancer) and went to join his family.
Even after her mentors passing, Shadow worked hard to serve the clan, but her mildly playful demeanor never changed and during her first several moons as a prey-hunter she caught the eyes of a handsome tom named Heron. She and Heron quick grew close and no one was surprised when a tribe meeting was called and it was announced that Shadow and Heron were becoming mates and building a den together. So many congratulated her and even a few of the she-cat comment how jealous they were because Heron was known for being protective mate material for being a prey-hunter. Shadow and Heron lived a very loving and adventurous life in their den on the outskirts of the island, going out and hunting at night together, a time when they would be alone with no business of the tribe to interfere with their lives. And at the age of 22 moons, Shadow got to tell her mate the exciting news that she was bearing his kits.
Sadly this news did not get to last for very long. Soon after the news of Shadow being pregnant spread through the camp, Heron and Shadow decided to take a late night stroll as they knew they would soon be coming to an end. In their distraction of each others company, they did not realize they had been followed until the coyote sprang from the shadows to collect it's meal. Th beast went after Shadow first, catching her off guard and running it's dark claws across her chest and stomach. Shadow, dazed and horribly injured, struggled to stay conscious, calling for Heron. Eventually darkness overtook her.
When she awoke several days later she was confused to find herself in Creek's den, the new Teller checking over her with apprehension as he did his best to keep her wound clean. She asked him for Heron. She barely heard as the young tom informed her that Heron had died protecting her from the coyote until a patrol got there. He hesitantly informed her that due to her injuries her kits had also perished. In one night Shadow's world crumbled from beneath her.
Shadow eventually was able to leave Creek's den, but never returned to her own. Other tribe members helped her build a new den closer to the tribe's center and tried to comfort her in the best way they could. Shadow didn't go out hunting a night anymore unless asked to by the head prey-hunter. She didn't go peer in on newborn kits like most of the tribe members though she was happy of the new life brought to the clan. She fell into a quiet observance of the life around her, and eventually the tribe recognized this as Shadow's way of coping. Every now and then, you can still see her working with to-be's trying to come up with a new prank to pull on someone. Or one might see her slip off in the early morning's rays. If you follow her, you will see her before a cluster of fallen stones near the edge of the forest and watch as the sun greets the morning, her gaze occasionally glancing at her paws with a small smile and her tail almost searching for something to brush against.
