AFTER THE FLOOD
Following the flood, the three Clans will be forced to take shelter on or near RedwoodClan's land. The rest of the island will be completely underwater. In the days after the heavy rains, the water will slowly start receding to the lake, but it will be a long and arduous process. Each moon, less and less of the territory will be flooded, but for now, chest-deep water covers a majority of the islands.
Water stands upon the shore, pooling into LichenClan's camp and the tunnels. They are unsafe to venture into, due to the lake's hungry current. The pine forest is also navigable through the trees-tops and rare patches of exposed land. The Sandy Creek is so engorged and raging, however, crossing into the territory from RedwoodClan is too dangerous. The fallen tree that aided them during the flood collapsed and was swept away into the lake. The northern territory is also completely flooded in chest-deep water, except for the northern peninsula.
The Tribe island fairs better than the Clan island. Though the lake hungrily encroaches on all of their shores and valleys. The isles received the most damage. The Rock Where Leaves Fall is completely submerged, while the rest of the isles are partially covered by water. The prisoners are suffering the most, forced to take refuge on a tiny scrap of land on the Rock Where All Wounds Heal. Fortunately, the passage from isle to the mainland is now safe enough to swim, so new guards can be regularly posted.
The Island Map: New territories post-floodAfter the storm, the Islands will be partially or completely submerged under water for the time being, forcing the Clans to live in close proximity to each other until the waters recede. The territory and current borders will look like this:

PART 2: FLOOD THREAD RULES
1. The flood event will occur over a set of 'parts', starting from mid new-leaf and ending in mid-green-leaf:
- Evacuation
- Division
- Return
2. The second part of the Flood event is Division. This is the period after the flood, where the Clans are experiencing their temporary territories and borders. They are trying to remain peaceful, despite rising division. There will not be one "division / flood thread." You are free to plot with others and create as many flood threads as you want as long as it matches the context available in the tabs above.a. Each Clan and tribe will have their own "rules" and "setting" for the division portion of the flood, so make sure to read through the tabs above before starting any threads.3. Threads taking place during the division portion of the flood can only be created from May 1 to June 30, 2023.a. You cannot create a 'division flood' thread after June 30, 2023.4. Your character(s) can create multiple [flood] threads since it lasts during the span of the next 2 months, and there's various thread prompts and interactions to explore! Check out each tab above for more specific information.
b. Threads, however, can be finished at any time. There is no deadline to finish a thread.
5. All 'division' threads must contain a variation of [flood] in the title. You could also put [division] but that sounds silly, right? Just put [flood], so we can track this plot historically :- )
6. You may use this event as an opportunity to kill a character. If you do plan to kill a character, remember to follow the rules of our Character Archival Requests.
7. Anyone who creates and finishes a flood thread (at your own pace and during any of the 3 parts) can turn it in and redeem a fun "Flood 2023" pixel award!
8. If you have any questions about the division portion of the flood, please reach out to staff!
REDWOODCLAN & THISTLECLAN
RedwoodClan
During the flood, RedwoodClan will share their land and resources with the other two Clans. Due to their higher land, their camp and territory remain largely unscathed, except for the land near the Sandy Creek. The stream is engorged and dangerous. Warriors and apprentices are advised to say far away. They have graciously allowed ThistleClan, much to their chagrin, to shelter at the bear stones for the time being. While LichenClan has opted to remain in the Birch Forest.
Unable to turn a blind eye to their suffering, Finchstar and Icesong both welcome the other two Clans to take refuge in their camp during the land and border negotiations. Only Vega and his family take them up on their offer. RedwoodClan and LichenClan agree on sharing prey and joining patrols. They also agree to train together, as long as they don't reveal any of their secret, battle techniques. ThistleClan wants no part in it and draws harsh boundary lines.
Orchidshade will not share supplies among the other Clans. She will have a separate stock collected by and for cats taking refuge and will only treat vitally wounded cats of other clans or kits and queens. She doesn’t like the idea of training apprentices together and won’t treat other clan apprentice wounds from scuffles or training but if a cat is gravely wounded she won’t refuse them.
Thread opportunities:
- Patrol, hunt, or train with LichenClan warriors, whether its in harmony or conflict
- Engage in a hostile or friendly border patrol along ThistleClan's new border
- Join a LichenClan patrol to scout and explore their underwater territory
- Converse with Vega and other tunnel cats and Fog while they're in the RedwoodClan camp
- Use the opportunity to close a character arc by having the character pass in the remaining flood waters
ThistleClan
With the majority of their territory and camp under standing water, ThistleClan is forced to begrudgingly take refuge on RedwoodClan land, specifically at the Bear Stones. They situate the old bear cave into a makeshift den for the medicine cats and their patients, nursery, and apprentices. Warriors sleep outside of the camp, huddled together. The engorged and dangerous Sandy Creek makes it nearly impossible to return home. Though some scouts are able to make it to the other side and explore the territory.
During the land and border negotiations, Stagstar adamantly refuses to share land and resources. He only requests access to the bear stones and enough land to hunt on, including access to the Sandy Creek, despite how dangerous it is. ThistleClan draws a sharp border and patrols it often. Once the water settles, they begin to send scouting patrols into ThistleClan territory to try and gauge when they can return home. Patrols are also sent out to search for missing den-mates. They find the water is standing, refusing to drain, and up to their chests.
At their leader's order, Shadepool and Meadowpaw will keep their herbs to themselves and only heal ThistleClan patients. They are also told to report all dreams to Stagstar immediately.
Thread opportunities:
- Explore the new, temporary territory at the Bear Stones
- Patrol the new borders, either being hostile or friendly to the other two Clans
- Spy on the other Clans by crossing the temporary border
- Cross the Sandy Creek and scout the flood territory, either to search for missing den-mates or survey the flooded land
- Use the opportunity to close a character arc by having the character pass in the remaining flood waters
LICHENCLAN & TRIBE
LichenClan
After evacuating, LichenClan takes refuge at the Birch Forest on their own territory. However, it is a small strip of land, offering limited amounts of prey. They create a makeshift camp in the growing foliage, using bramble to protect kits in the nursery, elders, medicine cats and their patients, and apprentices. Warriors sleep safely among the underbrush. Their shores, the MoonCave, and the tunnels are completely underwater. Clan-mates are advised to stay away from the standing water, as dangerous currents continue to lurk beneath the surface.Tribe
During the land and border negotiations, they decide to maintain a 'loose' border with RedwoodClan and agree to sharing resources, such as prey as long as the LichenClan warriors catch it themselves. They are allowed to hunt on RedwoodClan territory, except for the Bear Stones where ThistleClan begrudgingly shelters. They also agree to run patrols together and train together, much to the loyalist's chagrin. They have access to RedwoodClan's camp.
Briarfall and Lilacpaw use what resources they can in the Birch Forest, relying on the stock they were able to save during the evacuation.
Thread opportunities:
- Patrol, hunt, or train with RedwoodClan warriors, whether its in harmony or conflict
- Engage in a hostile or friendly border patrol along ThistleClan's new border
- Scout and explore LichenClan's underwater territory
- Converse with Vega and other tunnel cats and Fog while they're in the RedwoodClan camp
- Use the opportunity to close a character arc by having the character pass in the remaining flood waters
Following the storm, Tribe cats are forbidden from accessing the shore due to the remaining flood waters. Tribe-mates who lived closest to the shore and lost their dens to the flood are offered sanctuary near the Tribe Stone where the water has been largely kept at bay. Sumac will advise all those with room to share their dens. Stone guards will be tasked will cleaning any debris and bringing reports of old dens and predators with the water having the potential to displace a few of them closer to the Tribe Stone. Prey hunters will be advised to hunt at the highest ends of the land where it is safest.
Tribe-mates who are held hostage on the Rock Where All Wounds Heal will not be returned to the mainland, but kept on their isle with a rotating guard. With food and priorities being cut, they may find an additional cut to their rations and may even come into certain types of sicknesses and coughs because of the damp and cold. But as all herbs with be prioritized to the cats on the mainland, they may find it difficult to be offered anything valuable
Thread opportunities:
- Safely shelter at the Tribe-stone or in another's den while the waters remain high
- Help clean up debris as a stone-guard
- Hunt on the highest portions of land as a prey-hunter
- Rotate in as a guard at the Rock Where All Wounds Heal and interact with a prisoner
- Try to survive the harsh conditions as a prisoner with limited food and herbs
- Use the opportunity to close a character arc by having the character pass as a prisoner or in the remaining flood waters
OUTSIDERS
Rogues/Loners
After the flood, Celandine remains relatively safe on the small portion of the Northern Peninsula. The rest of the northern territory is sitting under standing water, which comes up to their chest. Displaced by the flood, many Clan cats and unaffiliated rogues wash up onto Poppy's shores. Poppy offers them refuge in her two-leg cabin. Whether they get to leave alive or not...is another question altogether.
Thread opportunities:
- Welcome the displaced Clan cats or rogues to Celandine
- Try to get intel on Clan information
- Scout the underwater territories
- Try to return home and escape Celandine
- Use the opportunity to close a character arc by having the character pass in the remaining flood waters
Tunnel Cats
RedwoodClan offers to give Vega and the rest of the tunnel cats a safe refuge in their camp until they can return home. The tunnelers make themself at home and offer to join patrols, hunts, and participate in political discussions to try and maintain the peace, despite rising tension. They also use the opportunity to teach curious Clan cats about StarClan, customs, and island history.
Thread opportunities:
- Patrol, hunt, or train with RedwoodClan or LichenClan warriors, whether its in harmony or conflict
- Try to reason with ThistleClan cat the temporary border
- Learn more about the Tribe from Fog
- Teach Clan cats about StarClan, customs, and island history
- Use the opportunity to close a character arc by having the character pass in the remaining flood waters
