Personality
Two Positive Traits: TAuburnflare is a very intelligent cat. She has this ability to look at every detail from every angle possible before coming up with a plan. Before she attempts anything, she will go over every single possible outcome in her head, and will have a contingency plan for anything that could possibly go wrong. She knows just how to get exactly what she wants in this way. Her mind is constantly in motion, always strategizing, always plotting. She is extremely calculated, extremely adaptable, and she knows how to make things go her way.
Auburnflare is also an extremely diligent worker. When she starts a job, she will see it through, and she will make sure everything is done perfectly. She isn’t going to settle for any less than what she wants done, and nothing is going to stand in her way. She will practically run herself dry to make sure that the outcome of what she is doing is perfect, and she will not stop until it is.
Two Negative Traits: One drawback to Auburnflare is that she doesn’t really care about others. She only thinks about herself, and other cats only matter if they can serve some kind of purpose for her. She isn’t one to go out of her way to do anyone any favors, and she certainly wouldn’t put her own tail on the line like the warrior code seems to insist. She is very self-centered and only pushes towards her own goals.
Auburnflare can be a little hot-headed, especially when she doesn’t get her way. True to ThistleClan nature, she will pick a fight over the smallest things. For all the things she has going for her, her temperament can undermine all of it, making her seem very similar to a whiny kit. She has this mindset that it is either her way or the highway, and she just gets so angry when everything doesn’t go the way she wants.
History
Kithood: Auburnflare was born to two warriors named Forestbriar and Darteroak, along with her sisters Harlequinkit and Lupinekit, during the start of Lily’s torment. With the threat of rogues, the Clan needed strong warriors, which drew the two warriors to come together in order to provide. But it was not an easy time to be raising kits. The warriors only priority was to make sure they survived long enough to be able to provide for the Clan. What the kits did otherwise, that was of no concern to them. So the sisters were often left to their own devices.
Auburnkit had sort of elected herself as the de facto-leader, because obviously she was the smartest and most capable out of all of them. And she actually did have some pretty good plans, including a whole evacuation strategy in case of attack. But most of what she did was more so about saving herself, not about saving her littermates. They thought they could do better. And so they kept challenging her leadership, and it was so annoying.
Adolescence: Going into apprenticeship, Auburnpaw was assigned to a strict mentor named Dacefrost. She begins to hone Auburnpaw’s skills, implementing a relentless training regime. Despite the difficulty in the work, Auburnpaw found that she actually respected her mentor. In a strange way, they understood each other, they mirrored each other in what they wanted. And through Auburnpaw’s training, they each stood to have something to gain. And so Auburnpaw spent countless hours training until she found perfection. Perfection in her mentor’s eyes, and perfection in her own.
At the same time, Auburnpaw struggled to settle into the apprentice’s den. It was tradition for apprentices to prove themselves by picking fights, and Auburnpaw was no exception. She specifically targeted one of the older apprentices, Juniperpaw. Juniperpaw’s self-righteous attitude always seemed to rub Auburnpaw the wrong way, and so clashes between the two were pretty regular, up until the point where Juniperpaw was named Juniperfang
Adulthood: Soon Auburnpaw herself had become a warrior, named Auburnflare for her dedication. And things only grow to become more and more complicated as time goes on. Thievingstar becomes the new leader of ThistleClan, a molly whose reign would be tainted by a constant, raging battle. Both foxes as well as loners and rogues plague the Clan, and Auburnflare begins to grow furious at the trouble that they cause. Her mother is attacked by one of these bands of foxes, and she is unfortunately killed, although Auburnflare does not truly grieve. Within the same year, Darteroak retires to the elder’s den as he finds it difficult to carry on with warrior duties in his age. To top off the year, a rogue has the nerve to ask for help at a gathering, pretending to be from a group they had not seen in seasons. Auburnflare ends up growing very bitter with all of this going on.
Rogues continue to torment ThistleClan, leaving Auburnflare very agitated. They target apprentices of the Clan as a way to draw out their leader. And of course Thievingstar walked right into it. Auburnflare can’t help but think of how foolish Thievingstar is to go charging in on her own instead of having gone for backup. But then, she didn’t know the full story. What she did know, though, was that she had grown to be quite cowardly after the conflict, practically hiding the Clan away with a curfew.
Within the same year, a storm rages through ThistleClan, causing flooding that drives the Clan from their home. Darteroak is killed within this flood as the Clan evacuates.Thievingstar then demotes her deputy out of anger, an act that Auburnflare sees as irrational and unnecessary, and she can’t help but think that the leader is growing weak. With the state of everything, Auburnflare begins to grow afraid, becoming more and more restless as everything seems to be falling apart. What was worse? They now had to stoop so low as to rely on a rogue to be their healer after everything. That had to have been the most stupid thing Thievingstar could have allowed, and it was humiliating that things had gotten that far.
Within the next season, rogues had overtaken their old camp, leaving Auburnflare enraged. They are forced to take shelter in the abandoned barn. Eventually, training resumes as the Clan prepares to take back their home, but Auburnflare had little hope in success with Thievingstar as the leader. In her eyes, it was simply too little too late. The Clan was sick and starving, and she was only just now finally taking action.
An unwelcome surprise came in the form of Lily, returning to her usual antics with little success. And then Finchstar came to ask for help against LichenClan. For once Auburnflare had actually agreed with her leader, astonished that the RedwoodClan leader would come to them for aid when they had their own problems to solve. Did he not take note that they didn’t even have their own camp, and he wanted them to fight his war?
A battle to regain their home ensued, and Auburnflare was pleasantly surprised when they actually rose the victor. Soon, they begin rebuilding, and Auburnflare finds new vigor with this victory. At the next gathering, Auburnflare gets to witness the LichenClan leader’s insanity as he banishes a warrior for sneezing of all things. At this point Auburnflare has little faith in any of the leaders. Lily continues to be a problem for ThistleClan, growing to be an annoyance in Auburnflare’s eyes.
The Clan is focused on a lost kit that one of their warriors foolishly let get stolen by her forbidden mate, a scenario of so many bad decisions in Auburnflare’s eyes, and seeing as the kit was half rogue, Auburnflare found that she could care less about him. But the rogues continued to attack, this time allied with LichenClan, and they end up taking the life of Thievingstar. With Stagstar now the leader of the Clan, and Firfoot regaining the position of deputy that was carelessly taken in the past, Auburnflare has a renewed hope in the future of the Clan. And with RedwoodClan’s problem apparently merging with ThistleClan’s problem, Auburnflare has to relent that the alliance with RedwoodClan is no longer such a bad idea.It is through this alliance that they are finally able to drive out the rogues for good, and Auburnflare lets herself take a deep breath, thankful for it all to be finally over.
With the new season coming, as weary as she is after everything, Auburnflare is looking forward to the future, although worried about the return of Lily’s family. So far, Stagstar and Firfoot seem to be competent enough high ranks, but Auburnflare remains wary of any possible change like they had seen with Thievingstar.
High Position: If relevant, describe how the character received their status as a high position in their respective clan or tribe.
*Remember to keep in mind the clan/tribe's specific history and characteristics. Try to weave information from current events into your character's history. For example, how do they feel about their leaders? Any threats ( lc vs rwc war, rogue threat, the flood for tc, tribe sickness, etc.)? Make them a part of their clan/tribe!
