Dogear
RedwoodClan
a short furred solid chocolate tom with green eyes
warrior
cis male
48 moons
Appearance
Dogear is a tall, large tom. He may be one of the tallest cats in the Clan. Named after the large dogs that the twolegs bring to the island through tourism, he is strong and muscular but also lithe and agile. His fur is sleek and shiny. It’s apparent that he makes an effort to keep up his appearance. His pelt is a warm brown color, and fairly dark, devoid of any patterns. It hides him well, especially in shadowed places in the forest. His face and limbs are angular and sharp, and he has a fairly imposing look to him. His muzzle is short and has a diamond shape to it. His eyes are bright green and tinged with blue and hazel in places. Most often, Dogear appears bored or stoic, with no expression on his face. He has an air of mysteriousness around him. The most comical thing about him would be his very large ears, which is where he got his warrior name from.

Personality
Dogear is extremely mature. He is wise and thoughtful, but he doesn’t speak often unless it relates to Clan duties. He is not very social, and is no-nonsense. Witty remarks don’t go over his head, however he just doesn’t react to them. He spends most of time mentoring apprentices and whipping them into shape. Apprentices may dread having him as a mentor because of this. He is extremely dedicated to his Clan and does not believe in StarClan. Dogear is not hostile toward the other Clans, the Tribe, or outsiders unless they show hostility first.
+Analytical: From when he was a young kitten following his mother’s steps, Dogear has always been analytical and had a curious mind. He tends to analyze just about everything– his surroundings, his Clanmates. This has made him helpful in battles especially, and he sometimes seeks out the deputy or leader to offer his opinion. However, this can also make him seem judgemental or callous to some, but he does not allow that to affect him. He doesn’t speak his mind often, anyway.
+Calm: Dogear is very level-headed. He is calm and strategic, and keeps his cool in battles or arguments if he happens to get into them. This causes him to speak in a monotone way, which can make him seem cold. But he genuinely wants the best for his Clan, and any other warrior with sense would see that he is one of Clan’s greatest fighters and mediators.
-Withdrawn: Despite all Dogear has to offer, he is very withdrawn. He doesn’t involve himself with deep conversation or small-talk, and is closed off emotionally. He has very few friends because of this, and this makes it so he has difficulty fighting in a battle with a partner. He tends to fight solitarily, which sometimes doesn’t bode well. However, he believes that he knows what he is doing and sometimes can be arrogant.
-Resentful: Dogear is not oblivious to his asocial nature. In fact, he is keenly aware of it, he just doesn’t know how to work around it. When he sees his Clanmates sharing tongues, being affectionate toward their mates, or playing with their kits, it hurts him and only reminds him of his mother who he no longer has. This makes him resentful at times, and only more withdrawn. He is bitter, but doesn’t show it.
History
Dogear was born in the early 2019 season as Dog to a lone she-cat named Toffee. He never knew his father and his mother never spoke of him. They lived together happily, just the two of them, in a secluded section of the northeast part of the island, and his mother taught him all he knew– mostly how to hunt. He grew up quickly and became his mother’s protector in a way. He loved her dearly and they were extremely close. They managed to avoid the rogues and the Clan cats for a very long time, until one day where their luck went downhill. They were wandering the shore of the island when a patrol of Clan cats approached and attacked Dog and his mother. Dog managed to escape, thanks to Toffee. However, he hasn’t seen her since and believes her to be dead. He survived on his own for a long time.
Dog found himself in the redwood forest one day when he was about two years old. Unaware that it was Clan territory, he hunted on it. A gray fox spotted him and, wanting his meal, it attacked him. A patrol of RedwoodClan cats heard the commotion and helped drive the fox off of Dog. The cats offered to take him back to their camp since he was badly injured by the fox. He reluctantly accepted, afraid his wounds would become infected if he tried to make it on his own.
As he healed in the medicine cat den, he observed Clan life and wondered if it was for him. He decided he no longer wanted to survive on his own, and Finchstar gave him an unofficial mentor. He was taught how to fight, Clan duties, and generally what would be expected of him if he were to become a true warrior. Dog quickly proved his worth with his strength and willingness to attend to duties, and was generally accepted by other warriors, however there were a trace few who tried to give him a hard time for his loner blood. He did not allow them to get under his skin.
Dog earned his warrior name, Dogear, after he helped fend off LichenClan’s attack on RedwoodClan’s camp. He welcomed the refugees that joined shortly after, seeing parts of himself in them. He did not get to participate in the counterrack on LichenClan’s camp, and disagreed with the choice to counterrack once he learned of those who were slain. However, he understands that difficult choices sometimes have to be made during war. He helped defend the camp when LichenClan attacked them once again. When he was not fighting in battles, he offered battle advice to apprentices and other warriors, and helped with both apprentice and warrior duties.
Dogear fought valiantly in the final battle against LichenClan that ended the war, and is very thankful that it is over. The battle did humble him and help him further understand the fragility of life. Since he has only seen war since he joined RedwoodClan, he’s looking forward to the new peace hopes that things on the island stay peaceful for a long time. He spends most of his time hunting, climbing the redwood trees, and training apprentices.
