Personality
Lake is a charming, manipulative cat. He is sly and cunning, and willing to steer others in specific directions to get what he wants. He holds little consideration for the effect his actions will have on others, and is a little reckless in that regard. He has faced little to no consequences for his actions so far in his life, so he holds some belief that he is invincible. He often jumps from relationship to relationship to satisfy himself– he’s not interested in anything long term. Additionally, he is nationalistic and holds a hatred for the Clans.
+Charming: Lake’s key and most prominent trait would be his charm. This stems from his good looks and his confidence. He loves to be sought after for attention and likes to seek out other cats as well for his endeavors, and his charm helps with that. This trait also helps him to get on cat’s good sides more often than not, so it helps to decrease tension and conflict.
+Resilient: One of Lake’s few good qualities is his resilience. He is not easily swayed one way or another, and it’s hard to bully or insult him. He’s good at bouncing back from life-changing events and getting back into his rhythm. He is also somewhat resilient physically, though less so than he is emotionally. His resilience combined with his loyalty to the tribe makes him a devoted follower.
-Manipulative: Lake is a manipulator. It seems to be his natural state– he sees no issue with influencing others to get what he wants. He’s never faced consequences for it before, so why not? While his manipulative tendencies tend to bring good things to him, they do not bring good things to those around him. This has caused him to fall out of favor (not that it matters to him) with some of his tribe mates. Lake is often unempathetic as well and generally does not care about other cats. He only cares when it benefits the tribe, and is extremely self-centered.
-Nationalistic: Though Lake initially did not uphold or care much for tradition, he has grown to somewhat respect the tribe’s ways. He does believe in the Tribe of Endless Life, to an extent, and partakes in tribe ceremonies and the like. He has also grown to be ardently loyal to the tribe, especially with Sumac’s rise to power. He hates the Clans even though he has never met a Clan cat before and knows nothing of their ways or traditions. He looks down upon anyone that sneers at Sumac or tribe life, or does not have tribe blood running through their veins.
History
Lake was born in the early 2020 season. As a kit, he was rambunctious and liked to pick fights with others his age just for fun. As he neared six moons of age, he seemed destined to become a stone-guard. However, much to his dismay, Lake
learned that he was naturally a better hunter than he was a fighter. As a to-be as well, he did not have much respect for tradition or for his tribe mates. He believed he was in competition with everyone around him.
He was made a prey-hunter on his eighteenth moon and has been quite bitter about that ever since. Being more involved with the tribe now, however, Lake found himself despising Clan cats. He became more nationalistic and more passionate about what was good for the tribe. He vehemently believed that they should stay out of the Clan’s war, but of course his word wouldn’t do much to change things.
Lake was opposed to Fog becoming the tribe's new Teller. He found it very easy to support Sumac and the blood moon set Lake’s beliefs into stone for him.
Regarding the fire that scorched their islands, it shook Lake like nothing had before. It made him feel vulnerable and small, and he hated it. He tried his best to contribute to getting the tribe back on its feet afterward, mostly to benefit himself rather than anyone else.
Lake follows Sumac still as he becomes the official Teller of the tribe and believes he is bringing good to the tribe. Lake has an easy time scolding Clanmates who disobey Sumac’s new rules. It awakens the kit in him in a way– once again picking fights for fun.
