SECRET SANTA 2019 UPDATE --Hi all,
December was a slow month for us due to the holiday season. For this reason, we had decided not to introduce new plot information or patrols until the new year. Now that we have finished the first Gathering and the first has passed, we are excited to announce the next phase of our site-wide plot.
We have a lot in store!
While we were a tad slower than usual, we are excited to welcome three new members to the site this month! Welcome Fenjay , bingo , and callie ! We are thrilled to have you! If you need to catch up on plot information visit Island Timeline for an in-depth account of our lore and recent in-character events.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact a staff member on the site or on the discord.
We had a successful Secret Santa for 2019! Visit the updated Secret Santa thread for gifts and holiday cheer.ADVERTISING CONTEST --
Everyone did a fantastic job with the event, and the results are i n c r e d i b l e. Great work!
A few members advised us to hold an Advertisement Contest on the site in order to increase web traffic and new members. We are excited to announce that from January 13 to January 31 we will hold our own Advertisement Contest.CHARACTER AGEING --
With the contest, we will launch our new advertisement based on the new skin and rebranded language. While this is not a massive shift in tone, we have decided to focus on our strengths as a site in order to increase and retain an active member base. This includes mentioning our relaxed, member-based environment and commitment to older members who have busier lives.
The rules for the event will be outlined in the official thread for the event. This will also include the event incentives and prizes, which will unveil a new site feature we aim to release within the month.
There will be more to come with this event, so watch the announcements and discord for more information.
Characters will not age this month. Since the forum was slower than usual last month, the staff has decided to cancel the age up for the month of January. We will continue as usual in February.
SITE-WIDE PLOT --
With the end of the first Gathering, the clans cats have learned about the existence of their brethren across the lake. This has caused further tension between Lichenclan and Redwoodclan, since Finchstar has welcomed Hemlock into his clan. Irate with his decision, Minnowstar ordered Hemlockheart to attack the Redwoodclan camp at dawn.MONTHLY PATROLS AND INDIVIDUAL PLOTS --
Redwoodclan does not know about the attack, and instead, the clan is focused on the new tribe cat.
Thistleclan has decided to remove themselves from the conflict and focus on their own issues, since there has been an uncomfortable increase in rogue activity within their borders.
For this reason, Thistleclan remains distrustful about the introduction of the tribe.
Across the lake, the unnamed disease festers within the tribe. Creek has lost one of his four lives to the sickness, which has further decreased morale on the island. The tribe cats are listless and face the future with fear as resources run thin.
The individual clan and tribe plots coincide with the January Patrols.HIGH POSITIONS --
Lichenclan will attack the Redwoodclan camp the morning after the Gathering. Redfox will meet their attack and order her warriors to form a barricade near the entrance in order to withstand the attack and defend the clan.
At the same time, Finchstar, Orchidshade, Loudstorm, and Smallpaw will follow Hemlock across the island, over the sandbar, and onto South Twin Island. Their aim is to meet the tribe so Orchidshade can assess the sickness and determine a cure.
Redwoodclan cats not assigned to either patrol can reflect on Finchstar’s decision to house Hemlock and commit to the war in their own unrelated threads.
Hemlockheart will lead an attack on the Redwoodclan camp the morning after the Gathering. Their aim is to infiltrate the redwood camp, find and kill Hemlock, and attack any defending redwood warriors in the process.
At the same time, Minnowstar will administer her punishment to Quickstrike and Redpaw back on the shore. The medicine cats, Cinderface and Briarpaw, will assist in the discipline.
Lichenclan cats not assigned to either patrol can reflect on Minnowstar’s decision to attack Redwooclan and demonize the tribe.
Note: Redwoodclan and Lichenclan threads created after the Gathering should reference the recent battle, since ICly the attack happened the following morning.
Unfortunately, members will not know about the outcome of the battle until it is finished. For this reason, members can be vague about the battle in their references.
If your cat was assigned to the battle, they can reference wounds, their emotions, or reflections on the war. If your cat was not assigned to the battle, then this a bit less structured since the cat did not actively participate in the battle. Mentioning it in name alone will be fine.
Thistleclan has chosen to remove themselves from the Redwoodclan and Lichenclan conflict. They do, however, believe that Lichenclan is insane (or at least Minnowstar) and do not like that Redwoodclan assisted the tribe cat.
Their current conflict is invested in the recent fox attacks and increase in rogue activity within their borders.
Thistleclan cats not assigned to the current monthly patrol thread, a small apprentice assessment, can reflect on the recent Gathering event, rogue activity, or interact with the return of the fox band.
Thistleclan cats can either distrust the tribe cat or reflect on the fact that a whole other island has been revealed.
All tribe cats will participate in the Redwoodclan patrol thread. Once the redwood warriors reach the tribe, Orchidshade will assess the sick and determine a cure. Some tribe cats can be mistrustful, others can be kind. The tribe is more familial, so they are more likely to welcome the new cats.
Other tribe threads can mention the arrival of the clan cats, the second island, the loss of Creek’s life, and the sickness for continuity.
FUTURE UPDATES --
As a reminder, there is one current high position available. This is the head prey-hunter role for the tribe. If you are interested in the position, make sure to head over to the auditions thread for more information.
For this position, the staff has decided that the old head prey-hunter, Moth, has become too sick to continue her role as the head prey-hunter if the new character wants to incorporate this into their application.
Once the character is approved, make sure to head over the Infectious Disease thread for a sick roll.
Around the mid of the month, we will announce the information about the Advertisement Contest. Additionally, we will unveil a new site feature that is linked to the contest.
We will also host another Activity Check for the month of February, so we can update the allegiances and assess our member base for further plot information.
Our first half moon will also start in February, which will coincide with another plot event.
Lastly, we want to send our thanks to our current member base. We could not do this without you, and we sincerely appreciate your patience with our lack of activity over the last month.
Here’s to an active January!
