Personality
Eccentric: If Leaf is nothing else, she's unconventional; refusing to think inside the box or limit herself from any opportunity that may come her way. It was the great teller Sky's eccentricity that led her to finding the catmint all those moons ago, and it would be her eccentricity that helped the tribe too. Leaf isn't opposed to appearing odd or strange for her beliefs or behaviors as long as she thinks it can further her tribe's success in some way. The odd molly spends most of her time thinking and fantasising about new ways she can help her home.
Intense: Leaf's passion for the tribe and its future is immeasurable, so much so that it's often the only thing she can be bothered to think about. She has immense feelings for her home and would do anything to protect it. Likewise, Leaf has many opinions about her tribe and all the going ons on the island. The precocious molly is vocal in her praise or dissent towards things like their faulty leadership and never hides her true feelings. Boasting her opinions with grandeur, Leaf is very intense without even realizing it.
Selfless: Even if Leaf is detached in nature, she strives to help out whoever she can. The calico goes out of her way to assist those in physical need or danger, but greatly lacks when it comes to the emotional needs of herself and others. Still, Leaf is gallant in her diligent aid towards the betterment of the clan, proving to have skills suited for being both a stone-guard and prey-hunter. Leaf has yet to decide her future due to her want to help everywhere.
Prudent: Leaf is always thinking of the future. What type of hero she'll be? How the tribe will fair? How her decisions will end up? Her knack for thinking ahead allows for her eccentricity, but it often distracts her from the real world. The imaginative molly is rarely present and it can make the calico seem immensely detached. It's hard for her to care about emotions when she knows those feelings will fade in the future. That being said, she's more than willing to ignore the opinion of other's if she knows that her decisions are for the great or good. The future is the only thing that matters.
Contentious: As active as a to-be can be in politics, Leaf is always willing to debate. She has a lot of opinions, ones she isn't afraid to share. The argumentative molly is prone to growing fixed and rigidilon certain opinions and she'll defend those thoughts if only to completely change her mind the next day, claiming other's arguments as her own. She's stubborn, but willing to change her stance if provided substantial evidence. Still, the to-be has yet to apologize for her wrongs.
Rebellious: Leaf does not follow authority. It was the higher ups that led the tribe astray. It was the teller that let her father die. Burdened by Heron's death, Leaf refuses to acknowledge another young and inexperienced teller when so far, her mother and other respected tribe cats were all she needed. Her resistful attitude bleeds into her training. The rebellious calico loves to learn, but hates being controlled and wants to feel free to discover things herself.
Restless: Leaf is a molly who is always on the move. She hates wasting time and always has to be learning or doing something. She's frequent on patrols with both prey-hunters and stone-guards and helps out in dens whenever she has the chance to. When she isn't training, Leaf is exploring their islands, keen on finding different sorts of prey and herbs. With tales of her great great great great grandmother in her head, Leaf longs to find the herbs that could save her tribe one day. She can't do that while sharing-tongues at home.
Pretentious: With how rebellious the to-be is, Leaf can't help but think that her own beliefs are greater than everyone else's. To her, she's one of the only cats who takes the tribe seriously and mentally doubts the intelligence of those who don't share her ideals. While Leaf would never outright admit her superiority, it is certainly apparent in her behavior that she feels herself greater. Looking down on others with great judgement.
Apathetic: Cold and detached, Leaf may be gregarious and strive to help, but she greatly lacks emotional attachment. She cares for the tribe as a whole, but after the death of her father, the to-be can't bring herself to grow close to any of her tribe-mates. Leaf's passion instead is aimed towards the tribe's future, thinking that she could one day relax if only she saved the tribe someday. This shows in her far-thinking behavior. Leaf places the future of the tribe over the feelings of those in the tribe.
History
0 - 6 Moons
During a treacherous storm, two kits were born to Fire Growing in Blackened Leaves and Heron that Flies through Rain. A son who Creek named Loon who Floats on Water and a mottled daughter called Leaf That Falls from Quaking Aspen. Quite the odd pair, Fire found her own way of showing her love for her kits despite her rigid demeanor while Leaf would quickly become attached to her father's glowing charisma.
----
The last living family of the ancient teller Sky that Beckons Dawn, Leaf's young life was filled to the brim with stories her father would tell of the great leader. Leaf and Loon bonded over the tales, reenacting Sky's great feats through juvenile games. It was Heron that Flies through Rain that lit up the young kit's life and filled it with light. It was her father who kept a smile on her face. So when they all grew sick with green-cough as the leaves left the trees and the air grew colder, Leaf knew that there’d be no issue as long as their dad was still around to smile.
----
Leaf-bare continues on and Leaf and Loon quickly recover from the illness that ravaged their makeshift den. Heron, however, struggles to beat the merciless illness and is forced to move to The Rock Where All Wounds Heal. It’s particularly hard to pry the two kits from their father’s side, but Fire does her best to reassure her children that Heron will return, despite her own doubts. Life is bleak for Leaf, growing more anxious and reserved as they wait for the return of their beloved father.
----
Heron never returns. Red-cough takes him and the rest of the family are left to mourn his death during a particularly long vigil. Leaf cries until she physically can’t anymore, voice hoarse from sobbing and eyes burning and red from the dryness. The light of her life was gone, her whole reason for the passions she felt disappeared. A shell of her former self, Leaf spends her next days in solemn silence, saying naught a word as she and her brother grow ever closer to becoming to-bes. Leaf can’t fathom the idea, she wanted to grow up for her dad so that maybe she could be like Sky one day, but Heron would never be there to see her grow.
6 - 12 Moons
Moons pass and Leaf still is broken over the death of her father. She’s named a to-be, but can’t find it in herself to bother training or learning. Despite Loon’s keenness on avoiding the hurt, Leaf dwells on it until she can pin the blame on someone else. Creek, Fire had come to growl. It was their leader’s own ineptitude that had killed Heron, and Leaf took this to heart. It made sense after all, Creek was barely of appropriate age and attitude, if anyone was to blame for Heron’s death, it would have to be their faulty teller. With hate brewing inside her, Leaf finally finds the gumption to train. With how incompetant her home is, Leaf knows that it is her duty as the last remaining descendant of Sky, that she is the one who will bring their tribe to glory some day.
----
Leaf bounces between training with stone-guards and prey-hunters. Initially, she wants to be a stone-guard like her dad, but can’t bring herself to focus on just one skill. She needs all the skills if she is to become teller someday.
----
Scared of losing someone close again, Leaf spends little time trying to make new friends or companions. She has her brother, and likes to train with her mother, but how could she waste time making friends when she knows that their teller’s incompetence could lead to their death someday. No, Leaf determines that she can’t focus on such fruitless things until she betters the tribe herself.
----
Starvation is followed by a coyote attack, which is followed by the death of Creek. Leaf has a lot of feelings about the recent goings ons in her tribe and isn’t one to hold back such feelings. She blames Creek for the deaths of her tribe-mates, just as she blamed him for killing her dead. While his death is a sad one, Leaf looks forward to a tribe led by someone more competent. Instead, Fog, a cat who’s even less appropriate for the job, is named teller. Leaf has little patience for him. Scared of losing more cats, Leaf doesn’t acknowledge the young tom and teller and only follows after the cats she knows she can trust.
