Appearance
Goldenscale is an averaged size tom who tends towards the bulky side of the scale. Muscular and toned, he is a good example of an athletic warrior clan cat. Even his long fluffy fur does nothing to hide his brawny body. His limb muscles are well defined, giving him strong shoulders and a big chest. His torso is wiry and his spine is more flat than the average cat. Goldenscale inherited big paws from his father and his webbed toes make him an excellent swimmer.
Goldenscale is - as his name suggests - a golden coloured tabby. His base coat colour is pale ginger. He has some low white spotting, including his front paws, a splotch of white on his chest and a white underbelly. Goldenscale has a ticked tabby pattern; his stripes are a burnt ginger colour, only a shade or two darker than the rest of his fur. He has light tabby markings on his forehead and his hind legs. Goldenscale's fur is long in length but quite thin and wispy in texture. It protects him well against the water but does not provide him with much insulation against the cold. Goldenscale's eyes are a dull, honey gold.

Personality
As a very idealistic sort, Goldenscale has a talent for always seeing the best in others. Kindness is his name, and salvation is his game. Goldenscale is the kind of cat that understands StarClan in a very different manner than most of his clanmates. He believes that at their core, StarClan is all about helping the less fortunate and down trodden. He cares deeply for cats from all walks of life and puts little stock into things like borders that separate them. Goldenscale is always the first to offer peace in a tense situation. He is very morally inclined and will remain virtuous even in the most horrible of situations. Goldenscale is a cat who can be relied on for gentle judgement.
While Goldenscale can be warm-hearted to most, he is much more apathetic to those who do not share his views. Goldenscale will not stand aside and let injustice happen. No, he would step in and do everything in his power to fight back. Goldenscale constantly struggles against the flow of tradition. He is very argumentative and loses his temper easily with calloused individuals. While not mischievous, Goldenscale has always been a rebel with a cause.
To most, Goldenscale is a deviant. He goes against standards and expectations of his clan, and does not display blind loyalty like the rest of the crowd. He is loud, defiant, and difficult. He will not bend over or allowed himself to be forgotten so easily. He's knows what is wrong and right and will do anything to instill some good into the world.

History
Family;;
Mother - Cloudysky
Father - Firefeather
Siblings - Whitefang, Lionclaw
Niece - Sandbriar
Goldenkit was born the youngest of Cloudysky's litter. He was preceded by his littermates, Whitekit and Lionkit. The three siblings were sheltered by their mother from the outside world until they grew to open their eyes. As the cloudiness left his vision, Goldenkit knew something was different. Sure his parents loved him and showered him with attention and praise, but the same could not be said for his eldest sibling, his sister Whitekit. She was pushed aside time and time again - and Goldenkit could not understand the reason for it.
It took a lecture from her mother about the differences between mollies and toms that he finally began to understand. Whitekit was a molly, which made her not as good? It didn't really make sense to him. Whitekit could wrestle just as good as Lionkit, she could pounce even better than Goldenkit! How did what was between her legs make her any different? For the most part, Goldenkit just nodded his head obediently.
Until one particular incident. Goldenkit and his siblings had been play with an older group of apprentices. One of them, a big mean tabby tom, pushed Whitekit into the dirt so hard her nose started to bleed. Goldenkit freaked out and did what any sensible kit would do - he brought her to his mother. Expecting her to fix all his problems, he didn't expect her to give Whitekit the could shoulder. She scolded Whitekit for playing with the boys. Of course she would get hurt. The boys were bigger and strong than her, she should have just stayed in the nest and groomed her fur instead. Whitekit dissolved into tears and slept in a different nest that night, with only Goldenkit for company. He licked away all the blood on her fur and her tears, but she never stopped crying for the rest of the night.
From then on, Goldenkit and Whitekit kept a distance from the rest of their family. Lionkit was not impressed. He threw a tantrum the first time Goldenkit refused to play with him. He cried, he screamed, he fought until Goldenkit finally caved in. Lionkit was a bully of a cat, violently selfish and jealous of everything that didn't go his way. Goldenkit was enamored by his brave attitude and saw him as the cool older brother.
He followed him everywhere around the nursery and tried to join in on all his adventures. Lionkit was quick to gather a crowd of admirers that scrambled over each other to do his bidding. Inspired by his mother's distaste for Whitekit, Lionkit's favourite target was his sister.
This was the only time Goldenkit went against his brother. He would constantly place himself between his siblings and stubbornly guarded Whitekit. This only served to make Lionkit take his anger out on him.
So he spent most of his kit days swinging between his siblings. Until he finally became an apprentice. His mentor was a warrior named Poplarfur. He was demanding and always expected perfection from the start. He drove Goldenpaw to the brink of exhaustion every day trying to get him to prefect everything.
Goldenpaw's relationship with Lionkit took a dive as he pulled ahead of his brother in training. Torn between pleasing his mentor and trying to remain on good terms with his brother, Goldenpaw struggled for a long time.
Eventually the choice was made for him when he graduated to warrior rank. Given the name Goldenscale for his outstanding swimming skills, he cut ties with both his mentor and his brother and found solace in his sister, Whitefang.
Fully grown now, Whitefang grew into herself. She was confident, skilled, and humble. Goldenscale was so proud of her. It wasn't long before Goldenscale was awarded his first apprentice. Tigerpaw was an orphan. No family to name and no siblings survived long enough to become apprentice. She had no one and Goldenscale's heart bleed for her.
Determined not to repeat his mentor's mistakes, Goldenscale did his best by Tigerpaw. He mentored her on everything. How to speak with StarClan, how to properly groom her fur, the history of the clan, and even bathed in Moonpool with her in an effort to get closer to her. By the end of her apprenticeship, Tigerpaw and Goldenscale were thick as thieves. Tigerpaw - now Tigerstorm - was considered part of his family.
His life wasn't always this peaceful. Conflicts with RedwoodClan were escalating and even Goldenscale was starting to feel the effects. One evening, he was alone when he caught a molly crossing the border. Instead o launching straight into a battle - Goldenscale paused and questioned her. The molly, Tansytoes, burst into tears and told him her whole story. She lost her mate and recently found out she was pregnant with his kits. She had lost her brother and now was on the edge of starving. She didn't want to steal, but if she had to for her kits, she would.
Moved by Tansytoes' story, Goldenscale allowed her to take the prey with her. He even offered hunt some more for her. All she had to do was meet him every day at dusk at this very place. Tansytoes gratefully accepted.
Goldenscale and Tansytoes' friendship continued right up to the birth of her kits. Goldenscale knew she gave birth when she stopped coming to their meetings. Still, he persisted in case she came back. Sure enough, the molly turned up one moon later with her kits in tow. She introduced him to her three kits, Ruekit, Willowkit, and Goldenkit. At the sound of the last kit, Goldenscale spluttered with embarrassment. His friend just laughed at him.
Their friendship remained unchanged for several moons - until the day Goldenscale was forced to meet Tansytoes' kits in battle. Young apprentices, barely out of the nursery, they were made to fight in a battle skirmish. Recognizing them, Goldenscale avoided them completely until Goldenpaw was thrown into the water. Goldenscale wasted no time jumping in after him. He fought against the currents and the tide to reach the apprentice - but he did. He dragged him back to shore and the relieved face of Tansytoes. She cried over her son, who was alive but disorientated. She thanked Goldenscale over and over again. Some LichenClan cats watched the interaction and put the pieces together.
When he returned to camp, Goldenscale was interrogated. Was he the father of the kits? How long had he been meeting with Tansytoes? Goldenscale told them his story honestly but his clan was not pleased. They saw him as a traitor and code breaker. Goldenscale argued against them. He said he was only fufilling StarClan's will. He was abiding by the Golden Rule - he helped those in need and protected the life of innocent kits.
After some arguing, the clan came to the conclusion that his actions were with just intentions - but he still went against the clan code. Confined to camp for three moons, Goldenscale was punished to visit Moonpool every day and reconcile with StarClan for their forgiveness.
And so, Goldenscale dedicated several hours a day to the Moonpool. Most of the time he spent in quiet contemplation of the state of the world. Other times he made a game of arranging the bones of prey offering in the shape of a goose. Every once and a while, other LichenClan cats would come to the Moonpool with their prayers. They were... less than inspiring.
The cats would send their prayers to StarClan, asking for fame, for wealth, for any material blessing StarClan would give them. Goldenscale asked for something else. He asked for nothing for himself, but constantly prayed for his friends and the less fortunate. He prayed for Tansytoes, her kits, his sister, for LichenClan as whole. He prayed for the loners who wandered outside their borders, friendless and alone. He prayed for that cute rabbit he saw snatched out of a green field by a hawk. He hoped it got away.
In spending so much time at Moonpool, Goldenscale came to understand salvation at its core. He realized that everyone had some good inside them, they just needed the opportunity to let it shine. He learned how to forgive, how to look past his own hubris to see things from the perspective of another.
By the time Minnowstar came into power, Goldenscale had a much different philosophy than her.
