COALPAW
REDWOODCLAN
scrappy tortoiseshell she-cat with fiery amber eyes
apprentice
she-cat
6 moons
Appearance
Coalpaw was the only surviving kit of her litter, but that didn't stop her from being the runt. Born skinny, her mother was told she likely wouldn't make it, and if she did she would always be weak. Her growth spurt at five moons came as a surprise, she would never be as physically bulky or broad as her peers but there was some hope for her, her scrawny limbs building sinew into tight and sharp muscles, her bones always poking just beneath her fur.
Her coat is one of many flaming colors. At it's base is black, but embers burn through their pitch, bright splatters of golden red mottled along her flank. Her paws are dripped in bleach, soft white. Huge yes of volcanic amber blaze through those who dare challenge her, her gaze is hauntingly dangerous, molten and enigmatic.

Personality
+ Fervid - Coalpaw is undeniably a flame. She simmers in the dark, always waiting for her moment to strike. She's dedicated to the craft of war, and is always looking to question, to pick fights and speak her mind. The girl is determined, ambitious, prideful and kinetic, always on the move and always ready to lash out. She trusts only her own instincts and mind, and she is an ever lit fuse moments from reaching the core.
+ Tactical - Eyes made of magma and a heart made of stone, Coalpaw is a tactician with ruthless intent. Every cat she sees is just a pawn in the big picture, every creature just a moving piece in the long game. She is incredible at planning, finding opportunity and taking hold of it. She's a quick thinker and strategically inclined, and her penchant towards tactical combat has helped her make up for her stature.
+ Firebrand - Coalpaw has one thing on her mind, and that is ambition. Power, revenge, recreating RedwoodClan from the ashes they've fallen to. While she has every loyalty to her clan, she isn't one for much faith in the code or StarClan, for all she's seen thus far they've failed her people. She would stop and nothing, cross every line and burn down every bridge if it meant the rebirth of her clan, and the ending she sees fit.
- Cruel - Coalpaw burns brightly, and lets none get in her way. She prefers violence over diplomacy, and loves to watch her enemies hurt. She's wicked in that way, and her dedication and drive is brutal and often damaging to those around her. She doesn't seek out friends for they only disappoint, everyone is a disappointment and she'll happily snap it at their faces.
- Apathetic - There are very very few cats that are an exception to her warmongering mind. Those outliers don't fit into her plans, and they are free of her wrath, perhaps even subject to a bit of affection. Everyone else she cares very little about. Even her own life is trivial in the face of glory, and she'd happily give it for her cause. Everyone else should feel the same, and those who don't she would happily scorn and belittle. She has little empathy, only rage.
~ Vengeful - To wrong Coalpaw is to incite a deadly wrath. With so few morals there's nothing stopping her from strategically tearing her enemies to shreds. It's best to avoid her bad side.

History
I'll watch you burn and I'll smile.
Terntail gave birth only a moon after Redfox, as leaf-bare was beginning to give way to new-leaf. It should've been a happy occasion, but no joy was shared that night. Her mate had fallen in a battle with LichenClan a few weeks prior, and now as she stared at two stillborns and a runt, she felt nothing but grief. Why had StarClan abandoned her?
She did her best to raise the scrappy kit, though it was unlikely she would make it. Coalkit spent a tentative first couple moons constantly at her mother's side, as the black and white queen stared longingly at Redfox and her healthy kits. Jealousy and determination drove her to try harder, to stay healthy and protect her kit with all her heart. At Coalkit's third moon she had a growth spurt, she was still small, but at least she was healthy.
The following moon was one of hope, Coalkit was okay, Terntail had a budding joy in her heart. She loved her kit with her whole heart, Coalkit was all the mother had left. The kit herself was quiet, she would play fight with the other kits in the nursery but mostly kept to herself or with her mother. She grew up listening to stories of war, and to her mother's rage for what had happened to her mate. That anger melted into Coalkit's core, a spark began to lit.
The spark engulfed her the day LichenClan attacked RedwoodClan camp. Terntail fought hard, but she was never the strongest. Coalkit cowered at the back of the nursery and watched as a LichenClan warrior ripped and clawed at her mother, her only family. That was the last day that she she-kit cried, watching as her mother was blinded. Terntail survived, but would never see again, and when she was done with her duties as a queen she'd be resigned to the elder's den.
Coalkit was an ember now, nothing but a vengeful child full of hurt and wrath. Everyone had failed her, failed Terntail. The only cat she could truly trust was herself, and she isolated her heart away, a dark black stone at the core of her being. She fought harder everyday to grow stronger, until finally she reached six moons of age and became an apprentice under Redfox's mentorship. From there she will grow and brood, until the day that she can blind them all, burning bright as the sun.
