Sagepath
Lichenclan
patched tabby she-cat with green eyes
warrior
she-cat
seventy-two moons
Appearance
Neither ugly nor beautiful are adjectives used to describe Sagepath; she is simply plain. The shorter furred orange and brown patched tabby-tortoiseshell pelt is neither undesirable nor desirable. White fur outlines most of her pelt, covering her underbelly, legs, throat, and other splotches along her body. Beneath her average pelt is a lean body that lacks any unique strength or speed, making her merely a satisfactory warrior at best. As she ages, her frame becomes frailer and her pelt becomes paler, with white fur breaking up the patched tabby coloration. Despite her average appearance, Sagepath sometimes neglects her hygiene, leaving her fur to become wiry and clumped. This occasional lack of self-care creates a below average image for herself too.
While her body is unimpressive, her eyes are the most striking feature of her appearance. The ‘sage’ prefix of her name derives from her sage leaf-colored eyes. However, her eye color is not the part of her appearance that manifests an abnormality in her presence; it’s how she looks. Her pupils are frequently dilated, obscuring the green iris with the deep black pupil. This is not so much a physical ailment, but instead from her neuroticism. She constantly looks like she is terrified, creating uneasiness among cats that happen to be around her.

Personality
Throughout her life, Sagepath has displayed inconsistent neuroticism. This neuroticism is used to describe a personality trait rather than the mental illness sense (but this can be left to reader interpretation). Anxiety, worry, fear, anger, frustration, envy, jealousy, guilt, depression, and loneliness plague Sagepath’s psyche. She lacks the emotional intelligence to handle stressors and often interprets ordinary situations and threatening and hopelessly difficult. As a result, she is a very low locus of control, causing her to believe all inconveniences in life are a trial by Starclan and beyond her ability to control, leaving most of her life to this perceived destiny.
Related to her neuroticism, her eccentricity is revealed in how she perceives everything in life to be an omen by Starclan. She has a bizarre relationship with Starclan as a result with strange rituals and beliefs that deviate from Lichenclan’s traditional faith. For instance, her greatest eccentricity is her rejection of medicine cats. To her, she (ironically) sees medicine cats as self-righteous and quacks. Herbs and medicinal practices are blasphemous to her, with only a strong relationship with Starclan to be the cure; those that die do not have a strong enough belief. Thus, she has a strong dislike for Cinderface, Lichenclan’s medicine cat, and her orderliness with her herb stores. Though she is very intolerant, she often questions the system, which indicates she is indeed a free thinker.
Sagepath’s beliefs are the only right beliefs, according to her. Thus, she sees other practices as blasphemous, such as medicine cat herb stores and even their visits to the Mooncave. She is not above shoving her beliefs in the faces of her clanmates. Due to her believed piousness, she occasionally sees herself as a portent of Starclan themselves, potentially compelling her to commit atrocities that she is convinced is the will of Starclan.
Though she disagrees with some of Lichenclan’s beliefs, she tolerates them more so than other clans that she sees as primitive, barbaric, and savage heathens with no religion. Ultimately, she has hope Lichenclan can reform. Sagepath used to be shy, but after the death of her overbearing mother, she began to speak more. Though she is a strange cat, she loves conversing with her clanmates, unaware that her topics are sometimes inappropriate and unwelcome. This trait has manifested with age.

History
Sagepath has always been neurotic and eccentric, but it has just grown to dominate her personality over the years. During her earlier years, she was a demure, meek cat that felt ashamed of her perceived sinful mother. Her mother had kits and refused to reveal the father, leading to nasty rumors. While it was within her mother’s right to not disclose the kits’ father, it was frowned up, and Sagepath felt extreme guilt, leading to her reserved demeanor as a form of self-punishment. Her mother was a brash, aggressive, and lustful warrior, having numerous kits with different mates. While Lichenclan accepted the extra warriors with open paws, she was not a respected she-cat. Thus, Sagepath had many siblings within the Clan. However, her mother was a neglectful queen, with most of her litters perishing before their apprenticeship. Sagepath ultimately survived due to her obedience and fearfulness of the outside, forming her neurotic personality.
Life was lonely for the self-punishing Sagepath during her youth, creating a strong bond with Starclan. She wanted to be Lichenclan’s medicine cat, but the apprentice position was filled. To cope with this disappointment, she convinced herself that medicine cats were sacrilegious. This counter belief brought her pleasure since she finally felt like a unique cat, though she never disclosed her beliefs. From there, her eccentricity developed and she began to perform strange rituals to honor Starclan, like trying to communicate them by climbing the tallest trees during new moon to get close to them (though she disdains medicine cats for going to the Mooncave at half moon to share tongues with Starclan). Most of her eccentricity is harmless, so the clan tolerates her strange behavior, though they do not know of her sentiments towards medicine cats. Upon becoming a warrior, her suffix become 'path' to acknowledge her devotion to the path of Starclan.
After her mother died from a viral infection as an elder, she developed the belief that herbs are useless when you are a sinner, forming the belief in the quackery of medicine cat herbal practices, with only righteousness saving your soul. However, the death of her mother made her more outgoing, allowing her to speak nonsense with her clanmates that oftentimes felt uncomfortable with her choice of topics. Though she is more comfortable in her own skin now, she is still just as neurotic as ever.
