Sun that
Shines Above
Tribe of Floating Stones
brown spotted she-cat with pale yellow eyes
stone-guard
she-cat
33 moons
Appearance
Sun has a large frame. She could stand beside the largest tomcat and there would be hardly any size difference. Her large structure has led to comments about her appearing “Too much like a tom” to be attractive, but these comments have never affected the she-cat. Her golden-brown pelt is covered in deeper brown spots and stripes – typical Ocicat markings. White trails up her chin and maw, but fades as it travels down her neck. Her fur is short and sleek.
Her face is broad and square. The bridge of her nose is wide and flat. White whiskers grace the sides of her face. Her eyes are wide-set, round, pale yellow orbs that constantly hold an aura of mystery since they rarely reveal her emotions.
Her paws are large and sport razor sharp claws. Her tail is long and slim. Her ears are large and triangular, a classic Ocicat ear structure. The combination of these traits put together are reminiscent of the larger wild cat relations. Strong but with an added air of grace honed over the moons of her to-be training this she-cat is a formidable opponent in battle. While she defies the standard definition of she-cat femininity she holds her place as her own, living a confidence and beauty physical features have no sway over.

Personality
Practical + Over the moons Sun had grown to be practical. She recognizes her limits and admits when she is sick and unable to do something. She is also practical in the sense that she sees what needs to be done and does it. She doesn’t think about the “what ifs”. If you want someone to talk philosophy about Sun will have very little interest. Unless it can help her do her job, she isn’t interested in discussing questions such as “where do we go when we die”, or “do our ancestors watch over us”.
Hard-Working + Sun is a hard-working individual. If she sees a need, she will do what she can to fill it. Unless she is down sick, she can be seen constantly patrolling the tribe’s various islands for signs of trouble and sparing with fellow stone-guards to keep her huge body in shape.
Circumspect = Sun is always aware of her surroundings. She tries to pay attention to the moods of her tribe mates as well, although she is less tactful at dealing with emotions compared to physical tasks.
Blunt – On a more negative side, Sun can be blunt. If she see’s a cat being lazy or stupid, she will tell them. If she things the topic being discussed is mouse-brained, she’ll say so. If there is nothing of interest for her she just walks away. She isn’t tactful when telling a cat, they are doing something wrong and can come off on the wrong side of some.
Fastidious – Sun is hard to please. Having high expectations for herself, she also expects the same from others. Since she must make up for her chronic illness she puts in more effort. She also expects things to be done right the first time and holds to a standard of perfection. If it isn’t perfect, she wants it done again until it is.

History
A storm swept through the lake one new-leaf. As the sky cleared and a tribe cat ventured to the shore a weak mewling caught her attention. Clinging not only to a washed-up branch but to life as well. The prey-huntress, Water that Soothes Wounds, was moved to pity and brought the kit back to the Teller for healing. Under careful care and observation, the kit slowly recovered. With the sun shining above warming her frail body, the she-kit grew stronger. Water, and her mate Bear that Sleeps in Winter, unable to have kits took this small one in as their own. They named her Sun that Shines Above, in honor of the warm rays that revived her. The only clue they had to where the small kit came from, was the faded scent of lichen that clung to her pelt – and soon even that disappeared.
Under the love and care of her two mothers, Sun grew stronger. In time she was able to join the ranks of the tribe as a to-be. She was determined to show herself worthy and strong. Her mothers had raised her knowing she was not from the island, and the curiosity of where she came from always crept in the back of her mind. As Sun grew older, her kindhearted mothers took in two more kits – Star that Heralds Night and Moon. Being the eldest of the three adopted sisters, Sun felt it was her duty to be an example to her sisters and show herself strong despite her weak kit-hood.
Unfortunately, the chill of the water had never fully left Sun, and she found herself susceptible to any illness. The cold seasons became the bane of her existence, leaving her sick and gasping for breath most nights. Sun’s size and attitude left her suited more for stone-guard training even with her constant illness. Despite her slow progress due to illness, Sun persevered and, training along side her sisters, soon became and adept stone-guard. She had no story to shine a destined light on her path like her sister Star, but Sun was dedicated to her training. With the safety of her clan in mind she soon rose to the rank of full stone-guard.
As a full stone-guard Sun tends to patrol the island. She communicates with the prey-hunters to keep an eye on the few predators on the tribe’s islands and watches for changes in the earth. If she sees erosion that could cause trouble for a tribe-mates den she coordinates with the family to help them move to a safer spot. If the predators on the islands act up or spread their territory she goes on patrol with her fellow stone-guards to corral them back. She has become an efficient and wise stone-guard with an eye always out for potential trouble.
